How to
beat Procrastination:
1.
Align actions with goals: When you know
why you are doing what you are doing, the process becomes more fun and
enjoyable. Procrastination happens when we are not that confident about our
next step or when we are not clear about the result our action is going to
make. Before starting any project or while continuing it, take a sticky note
and write down a small note on it which reflects why you are doing that particular
task and stick it near to where you usually work, my laptop is my sticky note place.
2.
Be flexible: Whenever we try to indulge
more in work and get the best out of it, we usually lack in other aspects of life
and then comes the question, how to strike a work-life balance? The reality is,
balance is just an illusion, it is the satisfaction of being that fills the
heart and make us happy at the end of the day. You can never get enough work
done, there will always be something or other yet to be completed and finding a
balance will always make you fall of the track or even can lead to a burnout sometimes. Always, try to enjoy the
little pockets that you get in between your work hours, try to flexible with
your schedule because being rigid with the series of tasks usually lead to a
feeling of overwhelm. Aim to finish your work around a fixed hour, every day.
Enjoy your rest of the day with family or loved ones or doing what makes you
feel relaxed and calm.
3.
Try 25-5 rule: This is a pretty simple rule
which suggests you to work with all the focus for 25 minutes and then take a 5
minute break. If you are able to get a strong flow while working for 25 minutes,
then good but if your brain keeps poking you, you can take a 5 minutes break
and again start working. In this way, you work more efficiently knowing 5
minute break is coming soon.
4.
Get 1 thing right as you start: Usually
when we are in a rut, we try multiple things/ habits together to get out of it,
as soon as possible. But what happens is, in the desperation of getting of it
and trying to develop 10 different habits at once you end up not developing
even on one them because you were focusing on none of them or you can say, all
ten of them at once. Start with one habit or two at once and rest will follow
up eventually.
5.
Get Active: The major reason why you
procrastinate is because you are habitual of procrastinating and love laying on
couch all day binge watching Netflix. Develop a routine! Develop habits that
will help you start your day
effectively! Get your body moving! Indulging your body in any from of workout
will help you to use energy produced by your body in an effective manner and
you will start to notice the difference in your work patterns.
